REGISTERED NURSE RN
Registered
Nurses are regulated health professionals with a diploma or degree, a
broad scope of practice, and many areas of specialization. Nurses are
patient advocates who work in the community, in hospitals and community
health centers, in long-term care facilities – in fact, in any location
where health care delivery, skilful practice, crisis intervention, and
leadership are required. Nurses assess health status, develop plans of care,
implement treatment plans and evaluate the results.
REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSES RPN
Registered
Practical Nurses prepare and administer routine medications and
treatments under direction, provide personal care and perform
housekeeping duties
DEVELOPMENT SERVICE WORKER DSW
Developmental Services Workers earn a diploma or degree that uniquely
prepares them to support people who have intellectual disabilities in the
community. Their scope of practice includes working with parents,
developing community networks, providing health support and locating
community resources.
Developmental
Services Workers blend analytical and critical thinking capabilities with
patience and understanding to enable their clients’ participation in
positive life experiences. They are highly regarded motivators,
communicators, and team players who bring empathy for and appreciation of

CHILD YOUTH WORKER CYW
Child and Youth Workers hold a diploma or degree that prepares them to
work as mental health professionals with emotionally and behaviorally
troubled children, adolescents and their families or guardians. They work
in various settings, including family support positions, residential
treatment centers, community-based programs, young offender programs,
hospitals, school boards, and child abuse centers.
Child
and Youth Workers are creative problem-solvers dedicated to helping young
people and their families improve their quality of life. They are
compassionate and sensitive listeners and communicators. But at the same
time they are able to establish authority and to set limits and
expectations.
EARLY CHILD EDUCATORS ECE
Early Childhood Educators have diploma or degree preparation. These
professionals work primarily, although not exclusively, with young children
and their families, describing child development and devising suitable
activities.
Early
Childhood Educators are experienced with both traditional and innovative
centers of activity. You will find their services in child care centers
as well as drop-in centers, shelters for women and children, and parent
resource centers.
PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER PSW
Personal Support Workers hold a certificate from a Community College or
equivalent and possess the interpersonal and practical skills and
judgment to assist with activities of daily living and home management.
They provide care and assistance to the elderly and to people with
disabilities, chronic or acute illness, or cognitive impairments.
Personal
Support Workers are employed in long-term care facilities, nursing homes,
hospitals, community living centers and in the home.
SOCIAL SERVICE WORKER SSW
Social Service Workers are diploma graduates working with individuals,
families, groups and communities. A major focus of their education and
work is the promotion of social justice through community development.
Their work settings include group homes, homes for the aged, shelters,
community centers, treatment centers, youth employment services, crisis
service centers, and welfare services.

success at managing stress and conflict is grounded in their respect for
others and their excellent communication skills.
